Judge Pedraz summons former judge Luis Sáenz de Tejada in Leire investigation
Judge Santiago Pedraz has ordered former judge Luis Sáenz de Tejada to appear as a suspect in the Leire case, which involves alleged attempts to sabotage legal proceedings linked to the government.
A court order released on Tuesday shows that Santiago Pedraz, a judge at Spain’s Audiencia Nacional, has summoned Luis Sáenz de Tejada as an investigated party in the so-called Leire case. Sáenz de Tejada, a former judge, is accused of reaching out to the Los Rocho narcotics clan to orchestrate an attack on prosecutor Beatriz Biedma, who led the trial against David Sánchez, the brother of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. The probe aims to expose a network that allegedly worked to block judicial actions that could embarrass the ruling PSOE government.
Among the suspects is Leire Díez, popularly referred to as the “socialist plumber,” who is also being investigated for her role in the scheme. The case is part of a broader inquiry into alleged political interference in Spain’s justice system.
