JUI-F chief urges government to allow PTI’s peaceful march to Islamabad

JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rahman asked the government not to impede the PTI long march toward Islamabad, saying protests are a democratic right. He urged officials to trust PTI’s pledge of a peaceful demonstration.

Maulana Fazlur Rahman, chief of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F), met a delegation of opposition leaders at his residence and urged the government to let the PTI long march proceed to Islamabad, emphasizing that protests are a constitutional right. He called on officials to accept PTI’s assurance of a peaceful rally and warned that distrust hampers any dialogue. Rahman blamed “behind-the-scenes forces” for derailing previous talks and said genuine negotiations require mutual concessions.

He also condemned the ongoing anti-terrorism campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, noting that operations from Swat to Waziristan have left civilians unable to return home and that the province remains destabilised. Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas echoed the call for a consensus-based agenda, while PTI secretary general Salman Akram Raja framed the struggle as a fight for the constitution and rule of law.
