Jury views CCTV of Beau Lamarre-Condon purchasing surfboard bag before alleged killings

In the first week of a NSW Supreme Court trial, a jury examined CCTV that captured former Sydney police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon examining and purchasing a surfboard bag at a sports shop, a purchase prosecutors link to a plan to hide a body. The prosecution alleges that Lamarre-Condon shot Jesse Baird, his former partner, and Baird’s new boyfriend Luke Davies at Baird’s Paddington share house in February 2024, then used a hire van to transport the bodies to a rural site south of Sydney.

The Crown argues the purchase was pre-meditated, while the defence intends to claim self-defence and contend the deaths occurred during separate struggles. Jurors also saw footage of Lamarre-Condon arriving at and leaving Balmain Police Station, driving his Tesla, and using ATMs in the days surrounding the alleged incident. Detectives reported gathering thousands of hours of video from over 200 locations covering the relevant period. The trial, overseen by Justice Natalie Adams, is expected to last about three months.
