Kedah schools to stay open tomorrow as haze levels remain below alert threshold
The Kedah State Education Department announced that all schools will operate normally tomorrow because the Air Pollutant Index is under 100.
As of 2 p.m. the Air Pollutant Index in every monitoring station across Kedah recorded values under 100, leading the Kedah State Education Department to confirm that schools will run as usual the next day. The statement referenced Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding students and staff during one outlet haze episode. While normal operations are maintained, school leaders have been instructed to monitor the Department of Environment’s API reports and act promptly if any pupils or staff show health issues related to air quality.
Authorities also urged heightened attention to vulnerable individuals who may be more affected by poor air conditions. Ongoing coordination with district education offices and readiness to follow any new guidance from the Education Ministry were highlighted. The department pledged to keep assessing the situation and adjust measures as needed.
Why it matters
Parents and teachers need to know schools remain open but must monitor air quality for student health.
