Kelantan Deputy Chief Minister Says Early Election Unnecessary to Prove PAS Loyalty

Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan told reporters in Kota Bharu that Kelantan sees no need for a premature state election to prove PAS's sincerity toward UMNO. He highlighted the recent state contests in Johor and Negri Sembilan, saying they already illustrate successful collaboration between the two parties. Hassan emphasized the stability of the Kelantan administration and rejected calls for an early poll.

His remarks came after UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan suggested that Terengganu, part of the SG4 coalition of four Perikatan Nasional-governed states, could hold a test election to assess the genuine willingness of partners to share power. The SG4 platform includes Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan and Terengganu. Hassan concluded that the existing electoral outcomes sufficiently demonstrate PAS's commitment.
