Kenya records second Ebola death as Nigeria confirms imported case

A 65‑year‑old woman died in Nairobi after being treated for Ebola, marking Kenya's second fatality in the outbreak. Kenya has confirmed nine cases overall, with seven patients in two isolation facilities and 135 contacts placed under quarantine. Nigeria reported its first Ebola case in more than a decade in a woman married to a diplomat, identified as a Swiss‑Ugandan national infected with the Bundibugyo strain after travel through Uganda.

Health officials have placed 44 contacts of the Nigerian patient under quarantine and say the infection remains isolated. Investigators are probing a possible connection between the Kenyan and Nigerian cases at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda.
