KLIA reduces ride-hailing pickup charge to 49 cents across both terminals

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd announced that the ride-hailing pickup fee at Kuala Lumpur International Airport has been standardized to 49 cents, tax-inclusive, at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, replacing the former RM3 and RM2.16 rates. The uniform charge is intended to simplify payments for travelers and drivers. The Terminal 1 fee, introduced on Aug. 4, helped fund recent upgrades that added a license-plate recognition system, indoor waiting lounges and on-ground marshals.

Within a month, compliance rose sharply, with 99.3% of drivers completing pickups within the 10-minute window, while lane usage fell 13.5% to 7,024 vehicles daily. Peak-hour capacity increased from 302 to as many as 660 vehicles per hour. KLIA handled 63.3 million passengers in 2025, a 10.8% increase from the previous year.
