Knesset lawmaker warns of settler takeover and possible expulsions in Arab Galilee town

Ofer Cassif, representing the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality since 2019, reported witnessing a settler encroachment in Majd al-Krum, an Arab town in Israel’s Galilee. He said a group of minors, directed by an adult he labeled a Kahanist, occupied state land under police protection, installing tents, furniture and lights during Rosh Hashanah. The Jewish National Fund confirmed it had leased the area solely for livestock grazing, not for a youth farm, yet the outpost appears to be a step toward expanding Jewish settlement.

Cassif warned that without immediate intervention, the next phase could involve terror attacks against Arab owners, their expulsion, and the creation of additional Kahanist “terror nests.” The local council has warned of a dangerous political context as the government seeks to boost Jewish presence in the region. Hundreds of Hadash activists and village residents joined Cassif in a protest, declaring opposition to what they called theft and ethnic cleansing and calling for equality and distributive justice.
