Korean Air seals $44.8 billion deal for 103 Boeing jets and engine services

Korean Air confirmed the conclusion of procurement agreements totaling about 60 trillion won, or $44.8 billion, for a fleet of 103 Boeing aircraft. The order consists of 20 777-9s, 25 787-10s, 50 737-10s and eight 777-8F freighters. In parallel, the airline secured contracts worth roughly $8.6 billion with GE Aerospace and CFM International for 21 spare engines and a 15-year maintenance program covering 28 aircraft.

The signing took place in Seoul and was attended by senior executives and government representatives from both South Korea and the United States. Walter Cho, CEO of Korean Air and chairman of Hanjin Group, described the agreement as a testament to the enduring alliance between the two countries. The investment is intended to guarantee a steady fleet rollout and accommodate capacity growth as Korean Air prepares to integrate Asiana Airlines in December.
