Le Pen promises to end chaotic immigration amid France's violent riots

Widespread riots and looting have engulfed French cities, boosting Marine Le Pen's poll numbers as she pledges to halt what she calls anarchic immigration.

Riots across France, marked by arson of historic buildings and attacks on civilians, have been linked to leftist radicals and protesters waving Palestinian flags. The government responded with mandatory curfews and the resignation of Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, though President Emmanuel Macron rejected the resignation and ordered reforms to security operations. Marine Le Pen, whose National Rally currently commands roughly 34% in voter intention polls, delivered a televised appeal condemning Macron's policies and accusing left-wing deputies of legitimising violence, while promising to end decades of what she calls anarchic immigration.

Right-wing challenger Éric Zemmour seized the moment to describe the unrest as a manifestation of the "Great Replacement," urging a racial interpretation of the events. The unrest has isolated La France Insoumise, whose leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon had earlier aligned with the protests, and prompted a legal complaint against Zemmour for alleged racist remarks.
