Lee Chang-dong's latest feature, 'Possible Love', was honored with the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, marking the first time a Korean film has won this particular award. The cast includes Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong, and the movie earned a seven-minute standing ovation at its world premiere. In addition to the Silver Lion, the film received the FIPRESCI Prize from international critics.
The Golden Lion for Best Film went to May El-Toukhy's 'Woman Unknown'. 'Possible Love' is slated for a South Korean theatrical release on Sept. 23 and will become available on Netflix starting Nov. 6. The Venice festival remains one of the world’s most prestigious film events alongside Cannes and Berlin.
