Lim Guan Eng challenges Zahid to oust Umno from Penang government

In George Town, DAP MP and Air Putih assemblyman Lim Guan Eng called on UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to replicate his federal ultimatum by demanding the Penang Pakatan Harapan coalition dismiss UMNO from the state administration. Lim questioned why Zahid “has no guts” to confront the state government, pointing out that PH would still command a two-thirds majority in the Penang Legislative Assembly even without UMNO’s two elected members.

He highlighted UMNO’s presence in the state executive council, municipal councils and several state-linked companies, accusing the party of exploiting PH’s indecision while cooperating with Perikatan Nasional. Lim warned that PH supporters recognise UMNO and PAS as pursuing extremist, divisive tactics to regain power. Reports indicate UMNO has issued an ultimatum to the unity government: either trigger the 16th general election for a fresh mandate or formally exit the coalition.
