Wan Rosdy says BN could still win Pahang even with PH or PN alliance

At the conclusion of the 2026 UMNO General Assembly in Kuala Lumpur, Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, the Pahang Menteri Besar and UMNO vice-president, said that partnering with Pakatan Harapan for the upcoming 16th General Election could cost the Barisan Nasional coalition roughly 15 percent of its Malay voter base in Pahang, but that the combined ticket would still be able to win the state. He noted that Pahang UMNO has held three retreats with senior party leaders to evaluate the best political alignment.

The options under consideration are a BN-PH coalition, a BN-Perikatan Nasional coalition, or BN contesting the election alone, which he described as a high-risk scenario. Wan Rosdy emphasized that all three scenarios appear capable of delivering a win, but no final choice has been made. He said the party will gather more information before presenting recommendations to UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
