Lockheed Martin and GM cut Patriot missile part lead time to 22 days

Lockheed Martin announced that its first shipment of Patriot PAC-3 interceptor components from GM Defense arrived in just 22 days, a dramatic reduction from the typical months-to-years production period. Tim Cahill, president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, praised the rapid turnaround as evidence of the company’s focus on delivering more missiles faster for U.S. forces. The effort follows a $4.7 billion Department of War contract, championed by President Donald Trump, to boost Patriot production to 2,000 units annually by 2030 across a network of 15 sites and 13,000 suppliers.

GM Defense’s Stephen duMont highlighted the automaker’s precision-fabrication capabilities as a key asset. Despite the speedup, analysts note that reaching the target output will still take several years, and current Patriot inventories have fallen to roughly one-third of pre-war levels due to the war with Iran.
