LPU students claim video denying rape was scripted and edited without consent

Lovely Professional University posted a video showing three female students from hostel room 504 denying any rape took place, while registrar Monica Gulati labeled the accusations as false and conspiratorial. The students later alleged that university officials directed their remarks and edited the footage, releasing a shortened version on Instagram without their consent. They said they were told to claim harassment and that a random room had been named.

The controversy erupted during campus protests over claims that an outsider raped a student, during which demonstrators vandalised property, blocked NH-44 and police vehicles were set ablaze, injuring several officers. Authorities, including ADGP M F Farooqui, restored order and suspended classes for ten days, postponing midterm exams. The students now face further harassment after speaking out about the scripted video.
