Madrid hosts inaugural Formula 1 Grand Prix on new Madring city‑centre circuit

The Spanish capital welcomed its first Formula 1 race this week, running on the newly built Madring circuit that combines existing streets with purpose‑built sections. The 22‑turn layout includes a 550‑metre‑long Turn 12, known as the "La Monumental" banked corner, and is situated near the IFEMA exhibition centre in the Barajas and Valdebebas area. organisers have signed a ten‑year deal that requires the city to pay an annual hosting fee of £41 million, and the track construction cost €85 million with an additional €65 million spent on surrounding works.
