Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim Begins Two-Day State Visit to Maldives

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim landed in Malé at 8.12 pm local time, receiving a formal welcome from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, senior officials and a school-boy cultural display. Accompanying him were Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Johari Abdul Ghani, Human Resources Minister R. Ramanan and other members of the Malaysian delegation. The program starts with a ceremony at Republic Square, proceeds to a four-eye meeting with Muizzu, and includes the exchange of MoUs on defence cooperation and Islamic affairs.

Anwar will also make courtesy visits to several Maldivian ministers and attend a luncheon hosted by the president. This trip follows his attendance at the BRICS Leaders Summit in New Delhi and a visit to Keralam, and underscores the Maldives’ role as a key South Asian trading partner for Malaysia.
