Malaysian Prime Minister urges Muslim world to adopt AI while protecting Islamic values
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim told a gathering in Calicut that Muslims must engage with artificial intelligence but keep faith and heritage intact.
During a ceremony at Markazu Saquafathi Sunniya in Calicut, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged the Muslim community to actively learn about artificial intelligence, cautioning that a lack of knowledge could make them tools of foreign forces. He stressed that AI development must be anchored in Islamic moral values and the turath of scholars, noting that technology can shape societal ethics. Anwar linked this call to Malaysia’s MADANI framework, which seeks harmony among diverse races and religions while rooted in Islamic faith.
He also referenced Keralam’s long-standing role in spreading Islam across the Malay Archipelago and thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for facilitating his visit. The event concluded with Anwar receiving the inaugural Sheikh Abu Bakar Foundation Excellence Award for his decades of public service.
