Marcos says he cannot force love as Duterte demands his resignation

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was asked about Vice President Sara Duterte’s recent statements urging him to quit his post. The vice president, facing an impeachment trial and a grave-threats charge in a Quezon City trial court, called for Marcos’s resignation during a rally at Quezon City Hall after her arraignment was delayed. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in India, Marcos said he was aware of the remarks but had no substantive response, describing himself as the target of Duterte’s anger.

He concluded that love cannot be forced upon anyone. Duterte’s supporters echoed the call for Marcos to “leave” the country, labeling him as the nation’s problem. Marcos is also scheduled to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and engage with Indian businesses during his visit.
