Melaka Accelerates Green Agenda with Solar Farms, Biomass Hub and Digital Governance

At the opening of the 2026 National Environment Day celebrations, Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Arthur Joseph Kurup lauded Melaka’s rapid movement on sustainable development and green transformation, calling the achievements a national benchmark. He attributed the momentum to Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh’s political commitment, which embeds the "Green Champion State" vision in the Melakaku Maju Jaya Strategic Plan 2035.

Highlighted initiatives include the Sustainable Biomass Hub, increased solar generation in Ayer Keroh, Rembia, Bemban and Masjid Tanah, and the Smart Melaka Blueprint that digitises environmental governance. Ab Rauf announced a forthcoming hybrid solar farm at Jus Dam covering 122 hectares, a Sungai Udang waste-to-energy project, expanded electric-vehicle charging infrastructure, and the development of new parks such as Taman Seribu Bunga and the Melaka Geopark aspiration. Deputy Minister Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh and State Secretary Salhah Salleh also attended the event.
