Met Office predicts 24°C highs across 24 UK regions later this month

The Met Office forecasts that temperatures will reach 24 °C on September 21, with at least 22 °C expected in 24 locations across the UK.

Met Office charts show a late-September heat surge, with highs of 24 °C predicted for London on Monday, September 21, and a minimum of 22 °C across 24 UK locations such as Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Greater London, Buckinghamshire, West and East Sussex, Kent, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, West Midlands and Monmouthshire.

The warm spell will be driven by a continental high-pressure system, while the south-west and Cornwall will remain cooler. Ahead of the surge, temperatures are set to fall into the teens, then rise again during the period from September 14 to 23, which the Met Office describes as having “some rather warm days at times” alongside occasional rain and strong winds, especially in northern and western areas. The forecast also warns that later in the month high pressure may weaken, leading to more changeable conditions, increased rain chances and cooler nights.
