Meta adds explicit warning to Muse after disclosed security flaw
Meta Platforms has inserted a clearer safety notice in its Muse AI assistant after a researcher reported a vulnerability that could expose a user's personal data.
An external security researcher reported a vulnerability in Meta Platforms' newly released Muse AI agent through the company's bug bounty program. The flaw could allow an attacker to access the user's personal virtual machine, a cloud-based account storing emails and other files, and was initially classified as SEV-2, indicating significant impact. In response, Meta has added a clearer safety warning within the Muse interface to alert users of the risk.
Since its debut, Muse has surged to the top of the free-app rankings on both Apple's App Store and Google Play in the United States and Canada, with Sensor Tower estimating about 2.8 million downloads in the first two weeks. Meta has not commented further on the issue.
