Migrants rush to Ceuta port as court clears temporary shelter, police struggle to control crowd

The Contentious‑Administrative Chamber of the Audiencia Nacional ruled against a police union request, allowing the establishment of a temporary migrant camp on the port of Ceuta. Ministers Óscar Puente and Óscar López submitted the required paperwork, and the Ministry of Transport completed the final submission late at night. As the transfers began, migrants sprinted toward the port, and police reported difficulty managing the crowd.

Earlier police raids in Ceuta uncovered illegal housing schemes that exploited migrants, including overcrowded flats and garages. Residents and health officials have described deteriorating public‑health conditions, sanitation concerns, and disruptions to schools as the influx continues into winter.
