Modi launches seven-point 'Sapta Dhara' plan to fast-track a developed India by 2047

On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented ‘Sapta Dhara’, a seven-point strategy designed to accelerate India’s journey to a developed nation by 2047. The roadmap prioritises manufacturing power by creating end-to-end value chains that meet global cost, quality and scale benchmarks. Agriculture and food processing are to be linked to export markets, leveraging free-trade agreements for products like millets, spices and chemical-free produce.

Technology and innovation will focus on AI, quantum, space, robotics and a Made-in-India 6G rollout. Gati Shakti calls for seamless high-speed rail and port-led growth, while defence power seeks self-reliance and leadership in hypersonic and cyber capabilities. The green and blue economy pillar targets renewable energy, green hydrogen and coastal industries, and the soft-power pillar promotes yoga, Ayurveda, cultural content and tourism. Modi stressed that the seven streams must work together in a holistic manner to achieve the nation’s development goals.
