Multiple unmanned drones detected over Moldova, some crash and cause explosions
Moldovan air defence spotted several drones flying near towns on Saturday morning, and subsequent explosions were reported with drone debris found in several districts.
During early Saturday morning, Moldova's Air Operations Service detected five unmanned aircraft traversing the national sky, specifically over areas close to Anenii Noi, Hîncești, Tudora, Ștefan Vodă and Căușeni. The service continued to monitor the airspace in coordination with relevant authorities and partners. Shortly after, police were notified of multiple explosions; at 07:50 an explosion with dense smoke was reported in Căușeni’s outskirts, where drone wreckage was recovered.
Additional fragments were found near Hîncești, Dubovca, Crocmaz (in a vineyard field that also suffered a fire and window damage to an agricultural brigade), and between the villages of Delacău and Puhăceni. Authorities have urged the public to avoid the affected sites and not to handle any suspicious objects, directing anyone with information to call emergency number 112. No casualties have been confirmed.
