Negeri Sembilan to draft budget without exco as DUN session shifted to November
The Negeri Sembilan state government says it can prepare the budget without an executive council. The assembly meeting has been moved to November, with a budget presentation slated for late November.
In Negeri Sembilan, the government announced that it can compile the state budget without the involvement of an executive council, relying on departmental heads to oversee the functions normally managed by exco members. The upcoming state assembly (DUN) session has been postponed to November, with the budget presentation scheduled for the end of that month. Officials also plan to hold consultations with all 25 government assembly members shortly before the presentation.
The state has been without an executive council since September after ten members were removed for allegedly violating their oath by supporting a declaration to remove the ruler. DAP's J Arul Kumar, who also serves as the Nilai assembly member, cautioned that this political vacuum could delay the 2027 budget. Despite the turmoil, the administration aims to maintain the regular budgeting process through these adjusted procedures.
