Nevada governor race remains dead heat as polls show Lombardo and Ford tied
Two recent polls indicate Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo and Democratic Attorney General Aaron Ford are virtually tied in the Nevada gubernatorial contest.
The Nevada governor’s race is currently a statistical tie, according to two separate surveys. An Emerson College/KLAS-TV poll of 680 likely voters (Sept. 5-8) placed Aaron Ford at 44% and Joe Lombardo at 42%, with 11% undecided, while a Noble Predictive Insights poll of 800 registered voters (Sept. 22-26) gave Lombardo a narrow 42% to Ford’s 40% lead; both results are within the margin of error. Economic concerns dominate voter priorities, with 43% naming the economy as their chief issue, ahead of housing affordability (15%) and health care (10%).
Ford argues he will curb corporate home buying, cap prescription drug prices and block NV Energy’s demand charge, whereas Lombardo stresses crime reduction, lower taxes and diversifying the economy through sports and entertainment projects. Both have criticized each other over fuel prices, with Ford linking high costs to policies he says Lombardo shares with Donald Trump, and Lombardo urging California Gov. Gavin Newsom to ease gas regulations.
