Newcastle secures £190 million deal to build state-of-the-art training complex
Newcastle United has agreed to purchase the 260-acre Woolsington Hall estate for a £190 million training centre, pending planning approval.
Newcastle United has struck a deal to acquire the 260-acre Woolsington Hall estate, which includes parkland and a listed country house, for a £190 million training facility. The project, financed by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and RB Sports and Media, will proceed once planning permission is secured, with an application due early next year. Club chief executive David Hopkinson described the venture as a landmark step toward creating a world-class performance environment.
The new complex is intended to be ready for the 2029-30 campaign, moving the first team from its current base. The estate was originally bought by former chairman Sir John Hall in 1994 as a potential academy site. Newcastle is also navigating a transitional season after the departure of several key players and manager Eddie Howe, with Matthias Jaissle now in charge and new signing Amar Dedic arriving from Benfica.
Why it matters
The investment will give Newcastle a modern facility that could boost long-term sporting success.
