Nexperia teams up with Tata Electronics to manufacture and package semiconductors in India
Dutch chipmaker Nexperia announced a partnership with Tata Electronics to produce and package chips within India.
Nexperia will collaborate with Tata Electronics, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, to set up semiconductor manufacturing and packaging operations in India. The agreement expands Nexperia's production footprint in the region. Nexperia remains owned, though not controlled, by China's Wingtech following a dispute last year. The move aims to boost local chip supply chains.
Why it matters
The deal could increase India's semiconductor capacity and reduce dependence on foreign chip imports.
