Norris urges one-race ban for Colapinto after Baku collision

At the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Franco Colapinto entered the first corner too low after a safety-car period, colliding with his Alpine teammate Pierre Gasly, who was then thrust into Lando Norris's McLaren, causing Norris to retire. The British driver labelled Colapinto's actions reckless and urged the FIA to enforce a minimum one-race ban for such restarts. The stewards handed Colapinto a ten-second time penalty and a five-place grid penalty for the next race in Malaysia.

Norris's DNF dropped him 116 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli, dampening his title defence hopes. Meanwhile, race winner George Russell argued that a ban would be too harsh for an incident caused by low tyre grip, suggesting penalties should target deliberate wrongdoing.
