NSE joins BSE's top-10 market-cap list on debut, surpassing HUL and Titan

The National Stock Exchange of India debuted with a ₹4.62 trillion market cap, placing it tenth on the BSE’s market-cap ranking and ahead of Hindustan Unilever, Sun Pharma and Titan.

On Thursday morning, the National Stock Exchange of India debuted on the Bombay Stock Exchange with a market capitalisation of ₹4.62 trillion, securing the tenth spot in the overall ranking. This valuation places NSE ahead of Hindustan Unilever, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries and Titan Company, which sit just below with market caps of ₹4.53 trillion, ₹4.48 trillion and ₹4.33 trillion respectively. NSE’s shares opened at ₹1,800, matching the IPO price of ₹1,785, and later climbed to ₹1,878, reflecting a 5 percent premium.

The exchange offers an integrated platform covering cash equities, derivatives, debt, mutual funds and international trading through its GIFT City unit. As of the first quarter of FY27, NSE serves over 260 million registered investor accounts, more than 130 million unique investors, 1,328 trading members and 3,005 listed companies. Analysts note that while the valuation reflects strong market position, earnings remain sensitive to regulatory changes and trading activity.

Why it matters

NSE’s entry into the BSE’s top-10 highlights the growing importance of India’s capital-market infrastructure and could influence investor allocations.
