Orbán warns that the Asset Recovery Office threatens rule of law

During a televised interview on the Bayer Show, Prime Minister Orbán denounced the Asset Recovery Office, set up by the Tisza administration, as a mechanism of despotism. He asserted that the legislators who passed the law are politically accountable, and that the office’s personnel should also be held individually responsible for any misconduct. Orbán emphasized that the right-wing will restore the rule of law and will not allow officials to evade financial or legal liability.

He announced that Fidesz will monitor the office’s employees, reveal their names, backgrounds, and involvement in procedures deemed outside the rule of law. The interview was previewed in a short video posted on his Facebook page, with the full program scheduled for broadcast later on Hír TV and later uploaded online.
