Parliament to Tackle Delayed Projects, P. Ramlee Copyright and Social Welfare Bills
Lawmakers will question ministers on contractor performance, the pending Parental Care Bill, school enrolment for 2027, and the preservation of P. Ramlee’s film rights.
During the third meeting of the fifth session of the 15th Parliament, MPs will raise several priority issues. Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah plans to ask the Works Minister about new criteria for selecting and evaluating contractors to address project delays and "sick projects." Rodiyah Sapiee will query the Women, Family and Community Development Minister on the status of the Parental Care Bill and the framework for comprehensive social protection for seniors.
Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun will request the Education Minister’s readiness for a larger cohort of six- and seven-year-old children entering Year One in the 2027 school year. Onn Abu Bakar will seek an update from the Communications Minister on government steps to acquire or repurchase ownership, copyright and management rights to the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee’s film catalogue as national heritage. After the oral questions, the House will consider a motion on the Auditor-General’s Report 2/2026 and the second reading of the Food (Amendment) Bill 2026. The parliamentary session runs until 8 December.
