Perikatan Nasional asks registrar for guidance on using coalition logo in Melaka vote

Perikatan Nasional has formally approached the Registrar of Societies to obtain a ruling on the permissibility of displaying its coalition logo during the Melaka state election. Secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan confirmed the letter was dispatched yesterday and that the coalition now awaits a response. He also noted that PN is seeking clarification on a grievance filed by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, which alleges violations of the coalition’s internal rules by its new leadership.

Takiyuddin explained that, in principle, any party may adopt another party’s symbol, citing the 2018 election when multiple parties used the PKR logo, but the coalition prefers official confirmation. The inquiry comes after the registrar announced a suspension of PN’s activities under the Societies Act, citing concerns over rule breaches. The coalition’s next steps will depend on the registrar’s guidance.
