Perth mother sentenced to 12 years for exposing toddler to sexual act

In Perth District Court, a 35-year-old mother from Mullaloo was sentenced to 12 years and nine months after pleading guilty to 18 charges related to child sexual exploitation. The court heard she and her husband, both involved in a swinging community, coordinated a sexual encounter with another couple while their three-year-old daughter was present, and the act was recorded on a mobile phone. WhatsApp chats revealed the male participant explicitly asking for the child to watch, to which the mother responded affirmatively.

A psychiatrist later testified that the mother cited marital intimacy issues and pressure from her husband to explore swinging, but the judge rejected the claim that she was merely manipulated, calling her an equal participant. The sentencing judge warned that the abuse could have continued and emphasized the need for deterrence, ordering a non-parole period of 10 years. The mother’s husband submitted a victim impact statement describing the lasting psychological harm to their children.
