Peter Magyar attacks prosecutor's office over alleged bias in three high-profile cases

Peter Magyar posted on Facebook, asking whether the Supreme Prosecutor's Office knows the term "criminal collusion" and accusing it of partisan behavior. He highlighted three matters he believes show the office’s lack of neutrality: the gold convoy scandal, the National Bank foundation investigations, and a case linked to Antal Rogán, including alleged falsification of investigative documents. Magyar noted that the prosecutor’s office had simultaneously sought immunity for him, Hankó Balázs and Miklós Seszták, while the latter two face multi-billion-forint crimes and his own case involves a phone theft.

The prosecutor’s office responded that its mandate is strictly bound by law and impartiality, and cited the resignation of Central Investigative Prosecutor Pál Fürcht amid internal disagreement over the gold convoy case. Magyar also criticized the timing of the prosecutor’s takeover of the MNB foundation probe and questioned the handling of the Rogán-related investigation.
