PN Says High Court Stay Lets Coalition Operate Fully, Takiyuddin Replies to Azmin

PN's secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan says the High Court stay on its deregistration permits the coalition to function as a normal party, countering Azmin Ali's interpretation.

In Kuala Lumpur, PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan wrote to Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali to explain that the High Court's stay on the coalition's deregistration allows Perikatan Nasional to operate as a fully functioning political party. The stay defers the Registrar of Societies' suspension and any further deregistration until the pending judicial review is decided, and the appeal by the registrar and the home minister does not constitute a stay of execution under Rule 13 of the Court of Appeal Rules.

Azmin had cautioned that the party's supreme council meeting could violate the Societies Act 1966, but Takiyuddin asserted that no court order required such a restriction and that Bersatu remains welcome to attend and vote. He also challenged Azmin's claim about a letter confirming Bersatu's status, demanding copies of the alleged document within three days. The High Court judge Datuk Azizan Md Arshad had granted the stay on October 22, after which PN announced it would invite Bersatu to future meetings.
