Police escort team transports recovered Virgo Transport 8 victims to Banjarmasin

Senior Commissioner Nur Khamid announced that South Kalimantan Regional Police have sent an escort team to oversee the land transport of bodies recovered from the Virgo Transport 8 disaster. The unit includes personnel from the Traffic Directorate, the Public Order Directorate (Samapta), and police from Barito Kuala and Banjarmasin City, positioned at the South Kalimantan-Central Kalimantan border. On the day of the report, seven bodies were found in Central Kalimantan waters—four in Sukamara Regency, two in Seruyan Regency, and one in West Kotawaringin Regency—and were moved via Palangka Raya City into Barito Kuala Regency.

The convoy continued to Banjarmasin City, where the remains were taken to Bhayangkara Hospital. Officials emphasized that the escort aims to ensure a smooth, obstacle-free journey. The operation marks the 14th day of the SAR effort, which has so far accounted for 172 victims, with 71 still missing.
