Police gunfire wounds driver near Johor Zoo, investigation launched
A police shooting wounded a civilian driver on Jalan Gertak Merah close to Johor Zoo, and authorities are probing the incident.
Police personnel opened fire on a civilian vehicle on Jalan Gertak Merah, adjacent to Johor Zoo, wounding the driver, according to state police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad. The incident occurred around 2 pm, and the area was sealed off while investigators examined the scene. Witnesses described hearing two sounds like gunshots and then seeing the car strike another vehicle in a parking bay, prompting onlookers to rush out of the zoo.
The driver’s car was left at the location, and the victim was transported to Sultanah Aminah Hospital. No further details were released by the police chief, but a press briefing is planned for tomorrow. The case remains under investigation.
