Police probe alleged financial misconduct involving twelve JPJ officers and MyEG/Zetrix

Police have launched an investigation into twelve Road Transport Department (JPJ) staff and three bank employees over suspected financial irregularities linked to MyEG and Zetrix.

Police began an inquiry after receiving a report about financial dealings involving twelve JPJ officers and three bank staff tied to MyEG and Zetrix. The case is being pursued under Section 409 of the Penal Code. MyEG and Zetrix, appointed as JPJ's fee-collection agents, have an outstanding debt of roughly RM314 million.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission said it will cooperate with police on the matter. Earlier, Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook noted that Zetrix had been served with 35 notices to explain the arrears and had submitted a RM231 million cheque that the bank later refused to process, leading JPJ to suspend both firms as collection agents.

Why it matters

The investigation could expose misuse of public funds and affect the credibility of Malaysia's transport revenue system.
