Police summon motivational speaker in child sexual harassment probe

Perlis police have asked a freelance motivational speaker to assist investigations into alleged child sexual harassment claims, urging any other victims to come forward.

Perlis police chief Deputy Commissioner Hamzah Hashim announced that a freelance motivational speaker has been asked to appear at the Padang Besar district police headquarters after a report of child sexual harassment was filed at 2.09 am on Sept 26. Investigators are handling the matter under Section 12 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which could result in a maximum sentence of five years in jail and corporal punishment.

The police have appealed to any additional victims to report their experiences to aid the probe. One alleged victim, a 19-year-old named Sofia, said the speaker contacted her after seeing her TikTok livestream and later proposed a “sugar baby” relationship. Another complainant, 27-year-old Diana, claimed the speaker initially approached her for a motivational programme collaboration before requesting a hotel stay and sexual activity.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek has ordered all school-related programmes featuring the speaker to be suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. The investigating officer, Inspector Sharifah Nur Fasihah Syed Sofian, can be reached at the numbers provided for further information.
