President Nicușor Dan cites USR leader's private remark on party versus country

Following meetings at the Cotroceni Palace, President Nicușor Dan disclosed that a party leader privately remarked that the nation's challenges are his issue, while party concerns belong to the leader. He specified that the remark came from Dominic Fritz, head of USR. Later that evening, Fritz confirmed USR's endorsement of Siegfried Mureșan for the prime-minister role and pledged participation in talks to build a parliamentary majority.

He noted that votes from PSD could be decisive and expressed openness to compromise with all parties. Dan had already nominated Mureșan, who accepted the proposal. The appointment does not end the political deadlock, as parties must still negotiate a stable majority to support the future government.
