President Nicușor Dan warns against snap elections ahead of Mureșan government vote

President Nicușor Dan addressed the public, stating that holding early elections is not a viable solution for Romania and urging all parties to act in the national interest rather than for party advantage. He added that the country’s financial trajectory will stay on course irrespective of the result of the forthcoming confidence vote on Siegfried Mureșan’s government. The president’s remarks were made just before the parliamentary session scheduled to decide the new cabinet’s fate.

At present, the Mureșan administration does not command a majority in the legislature. The Social Democratic Party (PSD) has declared it will not back the new executive, and the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) also opposes the proposed arrangement, leaving the government’s future uncertain.
