Private jet cargo refused after discovery of suspected meth shipment in Laos

CGT Asia said its charter flight declined to load luggage that Lao authorities suspected contained a large quantity of methamphetamine.

CGT Asia Pte Ltd, operating a private jet from Subang to Manila via Luang Prabang, reported that a Filipino traveler boarded the flight on Oct 1 without hand luggage, planning to collect cargo in Laos. The airline was told the passenger would retrieve vape-related items, but was not warned that the shipment comprised roughly 23 pieces, far exceeding expectations. Concerned about the volume and possible lithium batteries, the crew refused to load the baggage before any drug allegations emerged.

Lao authorities then inspected the suitcases, seized them as suspected of containing a significant quantity of meth, and arrested 13 suspects, among them the pilot, co-pilot, several airport workers and a Malaysian individual. Malaysian police later detained four additional people linked to the scheme. CGT Asia emphasized it had no knowledge of the drugs and is cooperating with the investigation.
