Prosecution removes CSC official to hasten Duterte impeachment trial
House prosecutor Terry Ridon said the panel will no longer call CSC Assistant Commissioner Ariel Ronquillo as a witness in Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial, aiming to speed up the process.
The panel has already taken testimony from retired Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang and Ombudsman Records Division officer Karen Batu on issues related to Article II of the impeachment charges. Prosecutors indicated Ronquillo’s evidence is no longer required. Dropping his testimony is intended to accelerate the trial schedule. The announcement was made on Monday in Manila.
