SEC director Gerardo del Rosario summoned to testify in Vice President Duterte impeachment

On Monday, the House prosecution panel requested the appearance of Gerardo del Rosario, a lawyer and director of the Securities and Exchange Commission's Company Registration and Monitoring Department, in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte. Del Rosario described his responsibility for managing the department's daily tasks and ensuring compliance with rules set by the Commission En Banc. He detailed that five divisions under his unit process corporate and foreign investment applications, monitor compliance, handle legal cases, and maintain corporate records.

Joining the SEC in May 1996, he advanced through roles including chief counsel, assistant director, and director of Human Resources before his current post. He holds a commerce degree and a law degree from Manuel L. Quezon University and was admitted to the bar in 1995. In his testimony, he serves as a prosecution witness regarding Duterte's purported undisclosed corporate ownership and shareholdings outlined in Article 2 of the impeachment complaint.
