PSD chief Grindeanu says party prepared for possible snap elections in February

At a press conference in Craiova, PSD president Sorin Grindeanu addressed the possibility of premature elections, affirming the party's readiness if the Mureșan government were to collapse. He pointed out that President Nicușor Dan has the constitutional authority to dissolve Parliament, which could lead to elections as early as February. Grindeanu criticized political rivals who try to sabotage the PSD, claiming they will ultimately fall into their own traps.

He described an early election as economically undesirable and urged a swift formation of a new government following the recent “nomination joke” involving Siegfried Mureșan. According to his calculations, the party could organize a snap vote within the next two weeks. The PSD aims to be fully prepared for a rapid electoral process if the scenario materializes.
