PSD demands Siegfried Mureșan resign as designated prime minister

The Social Democratic Party publicly demanded that Siegfried Mureșan, the president-appointed prime-minister-designate, submit his resignation, labeling one outlet government-building effort a masquerade. PSD condemned the negotiations for ministries and vice-premier posts as an amateurish power struggle that ignores the country’s pressing problems. The party highlighted that Mureșan has announced he will not resign, despite acknowledging he lacks the numbers to secure a parliamentary majority.

PSD further stated it will abstain from voting on the cabinet’s investiture, with its leader Sorin Grindeanu calling any potential support “extremely low”. The party stressed the need for a full-power executive that governs for citizens rather than for positions.
