PSD chief Grindeanu slams rivals for lacking a governing program, urges focus on Romania

Sorin Grindeanu, the president of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), publicly rebuked the newly appointed prime minister Siegfried Mureșan and the leaders of the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Save Romania Union (USR) and the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR). Grindeanu argued that after keeping the country stalled for four and a half months, the right-wing leaders still lack a basic governing plan.

He called for details on how they intend to revive the economy, outline fiscal policy, safeguard consumer purchasing power, support investment and preserve jobs. The PSD chief also asked whether the incoming administration will maintain the austerity measures of the former Bolojan government or shift direction, as demanded by the public. Emphasizing PSD’s stance, he said the party will first present a program for Romania and measures for its people, before commenting on any summer-time political slogans. The post also noted that the euro has risen against the leu since Mureșan’s designation.
