Quebec man arrested for Facebook threats against Prime Minister Mark Carney

Authorities arrested Ousmane Bah, a 45-year-old man from Quebec City, after he posted threatening messages on Facebook aimed at Prime Minister Mark Carney and called for hatred against a specific group. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police charged him with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and with promoting hatred. Investigators launched the case on July 6, and Bah was brought before a Quebec City court on September 24, where he was ordered to stay in custody pending a further appearance on October 1.
The RCMP noted that this is the second recent case involving threats to Carney, after a Calgary resident was detained earlier in the month for similar conduct. The charges underscore ongoing concerns about online extremist speech and the safety of public officials.
